Description
Use Chalk Paint® Wax, available in Clear, Dark, Black, and White, to seal and protect furniture and walls painted with Chalk Paint® decorative paint. Chalk Paint® Wax emphasises depth of colour and gives a beautiful mellow finish, or can be buffed to a high sheen. It is water-repellent too, so can be used on dining room tables and kitchen cabinets.
To achieve Annie’s signature look, apply a thin coat of wax over your painted surface with a small Chalk Paint® Wax Brush. Work in small areas at a time, wiping off any excess with a clean cloth. For a distressed look, sand back to reveal a little of the wood or paint underneath before applying a second coat of wax.
Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint® Wax is the consistency of soft margarine in a tub so it is easy to apply, is completely colorless and has very little odor. It is water-repellent so it can be used on dining room tables and kitchens. Wipe clean regularly with a damp cloth although for tough marks use a proprietary spray cleaner and rewax. Annie recommends applying Chalk Paint® decorative paint, waxing it, and then sanding it for the best results.
To age and give texture to your paintwork apply Annie Sloan Clear Soft Wax first then apply Wax. Wipe off any excess, then use the Clear Soft Wax to take more off if you need to. Leave the dark wax in the recesses to create a great antique look.
You can color Wax to make it less brown by using a little Chalk Paint® in the wax. Use Old White to make white wax or a bit of Aubusson to make the wax almost black. Apply with a brush or rag.
- Easy to apply

Chalk Paint® Wax is not suitable for outdoor use. Use Chalk Paint® Lacquer alternatively for use outdoors. After care: wipe clean with a damp cloth. For tough marks, use a proprietary spray cleaner and rewax where necessary.
